World Padel Tour (WPT): The Original Pro Circuit

The World Padel Tour (WPT) was the leading professional padel circuit from its launch in 2013 until its restructuring in 2023. Based in Spain, it organised tournaments across Europe and beyond, featuring the world's top padel players in spectacular venues.

At its peak, the WPT hosted around 20 events per season, including Masters, Open, and Challenger events. Tournaments in Madrid, Barcelona, and other major cities drew thousands of spectators and millions of television viewers, helping popularise padel globally.

The WPT played a crucial role in professionalising padel. It created broadcast partnerships, attracted sponsors, and gave top players a viable professional career path for the first time. Many of the sport's biggest stars — like Alejandra Salazar, Gemma Triay, Ale Galán, and Juan Lebrón — built their careers on the WPT.

In 2023, the professional padel landscape shifted significantly with the consolidation of tours under the Premier Padel umbrella. The WPT brand was integrated into the new unified tour structure, marking the end of an era but also the beginning of a more organised professional circuit.
