Padel in London
London is the UK's number one padel city — a title earned through explosive growth and sheer scale. With more padel courts than any other British city and over 40 verified coaches in our directory, finding the right coach here is about fit, not availability. Dedicated centres in Stratford and Wandsworth anchor the scene, while courts in Fulham, Battersea, Canary Wharf, Wimbledon, and Islington serve players across the capital. Indoor facilities dominate, meaning coaching runs year-round regardless of London's famously unpredictable weather. Every coach in our London directory holds an LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) certification at Level 1, 2, or 3 — the UK's official standard for padel coaching. Many also hold Spanish federation or FIP qualifications, reflecting the city's draw for coaches trained in padel's heartlands. Private coaching typically runs £40–£90 per hour, with central London venues and peak-time slots at the upper end; group lessons range from £15–£30 per person and tend to fill quickly. London's padel scene is strikingly international. You'll find coaches fluent in English, Spanish, Italian, French, and Portuguese, serving a player base that spans City professionals, students, and expats who discovered the sport abroad. The sport's growth has been striking: UK padel participation rose 125% in 2025, and London drives the majority of that increase. Whether you're picking up a padel racquet for the first time or pushing towards tournament play, London now has the coaching depth to meet you at your level.
Why padel in London?
- →Year-round indoor play: London's padel growth is built on indoor facilities — dedicated centres in Stratford, Wandsworth, Fulham, and Canary Wharf run coaching sessions every day of the year regardless of weather, making it one of Europe's most accessible padel cities for consistent training.
- →40+ verified coaches: London's directory is the largest in the UK by a significant margin, offering players genuine choice of specialisation — from beginner introductions and tennis crossover programmes to advanced tactical coaching and tournament preparation.
- →Thriving competitive scene: LTA-sanctioned club leagues, open tournaments, and the Padel National Series give London players a structured competitive pathway from their first lesson to national-level competition.

What Is Padel?
Padel is a racket sport played in doubles on an enclosed court with walls. It combines elements of tennis and squash and is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world.
Padel Rules: How the Game Works
Padel rules are simple to learn. Played in doubles on an enclosed court, the game uses tennis scoring and allows the ball to bounce off walls after hitting the ground.
Padel Equipment: What You Need to Play
To play padel you need a padel racket, padel balls, and appropriate footwear. The racket is solid (no strings) with holes, and the balls are slightly softer than tennis balls.
The Bandeja: Padel's Essential Overhead
The bandeja is a controlled overhead shot in padel used to maintain net position. It's one of the most important shots in the game and a must-learn for intermediate players.
The Golden Point: Padel's Sudden Death Rule
The golden point is the sudden death point played at deuce (40-40). One team serves, and the receiving team chooses which side to return from. The team that wins the point wins the game — no advantage.
Wall Play in Padel: How to Use the Walls
Wall play is what makes padel unique. After a ball bounces on your side, it can hit the back or side wall — and you can still play it. Mastering the walls transforms your defensive game.

Padel coaching in London: common questions
How much does a padel coach cost in London?
Private padel coaching in London typically costs £40–£90 per hour. The higher end reflects central London venues, experienced LTA Level 3 coaches, and peak-time slots. Group lessons — usually 3–4 players per court — range from £15–£30 per person per session, making them a popular and affordable way to improve.
Where can I find a padel coach near me in London?
London's padel coaches are spread across the capital, with concentrations in Fulham, Battersea, Canary Wharf, Wimbledon, and Islington, plus major centres in Stratford and Wandsworth. Do I need any experience to get padel coaching in London?
None at all. Most coaches in London actively welcome complete beginners, and several specialise in first-timers. Padel has a famously short learning curve — many beginners are rallying confidently within their first session. Just tell your coach you're starting from scratch and they'll tailor the session accordingly.
How long does it take to learn padel in London?
Most beginners can hold a basic rally after one or two sessions. Playing a proper game with some tactical awareness typically takes 4–6 coaching sessions. Reaching a competitive club standard usually takes 3–6 months of regular play and coaching, depending on frequency and prior racquet sports experience.
Are there LTA-certified padel coaches in London?
Yes — every coach in the Padel Coach Finder London directory holds an LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) certification, the UK's official standard for padel coaching. Levels run from Level 1 (introductory) through to Level 3 (advanced coach), and several coaches hold additional FIP or Spanish federation qualifications on top of their LTA credentials.
